7 Reasons To Use An Online Spanish Language Course

Using an online Spanish language course is a fantastic way to learn to speak, understand, read and write Spanish. This is because an online Spanish language course is so versatile and interactive.

Personally, I am fluent is Spanish, and learned the hard way: by trial and error, lots of error! Actually, I had to learn to speak Spanish when I lived in Spain with people who did not speak English. The only book I had was a little book from somebody's first grade class!

Most people cannot go and live in one of the many Spanish speaking countries, so they must learn from some other source. You might take a class at the local Community College, high school, or private school. Or you could use cassette tapes, DVD's, and books to learn. After returning to the US, I have used all of these methods, with little success.

The schools were usually very boring, the teacher had bad pronunciation, and one time there was a Cuban exile criminal in the class who was after the pretty American teacher! This disrupted the learning process greatly.

Some people may benefit from a classroom environment, but I am not one of them. Learning at my own pace, whenever I want, is much more appealing and effective.

Tapes and DVD's are not bad, but they are not interactive. Probably their greatest benefit is just listening to native speakers. Even this has severe limitations because often the monologue is irrelevant to today's world.

One tape set I had was primarily designed to teah you how to pick up women! Seriously, it all revolved around the dialog in a bar between a woman and a man, who were strangers. I didn't realize this until I loaned the set to a female friend!

Another series was all about finding an apartment in a big city. This was better, but it was so out of date that it was almost useless. Even the currency had changed.

The beauty of an online Spanish language course is that it is up-to-date and relevant. Instead of hailing a taxi you learn how to write an email. Rather than learning about umbrellas and elephants, you learn up-to-date words and even slang. This is very useful because, in the real world, nobody talks like a book!

You should learn to be able to navigate on the internet and use a cell phone, not just know about desks, ashtrays and pens! Plus, if you can talk about futbol, you are in!

Another advantage of using an online Spanish language course is the fact that it is more or less living. This means that features can be updated at intervals, such as weekly grammar updates. This keeps the learning fresh and the learner motivated.

Most people, especially youth, have short attentions spans on the computer. When the language program is updated and varied, it accommodates this learning style.

The 7 reasons to use an online Spanish language course:

  3. Self-paced

There really are many good reasons to use an online Spanish language course, these are just a few of the more obvious. All in all, this way of learning a language is one of the best, short of living in a Spanish speaking country!
